Novelties : New apple varieties

Our four new varieties will help to add some colour in your orchard

RED IDARED – European Plant Breeders' Rights applied : a very interesting red sport of IDARED, with great colour improvement of the fruits without changing any other characteristics to the fruits or tree.  

JEROMINE (picture)- European Plant breeders' Rights, highly colored sport of EARLY RED ONE(r) Erovan, very well adapted to the soil and climate conditions where getting good colour can be a problem

JONAREVE – European Plant Breeders' Rights applied : a very interesting sport of JONAGOLD with a very deep strong colour. It is one of the most coloured Jonagold sports sold on the market nowadays.

REDSTAR – European PlantBreeders' Rights applied : WONDERFUL VARIETY. This sport of ELSTAR is a very deep and striped coloured sport of ELSTAR. The fruits size is increased a little compared to ELSTAR.

 All those new varieties can be observed at VALOIS Nursery in Villers Cotteręts (70 km East from Paris) or in Seiches sur Loir (20 km East from Angers). Do not hesitate to contact us for a visit.


 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

 VARIETY DENOMINATION

 It is the name chosen by the breeder used for Plant protection or registration to the Official Catalogue. It summarises the complete description of the variety and identify it.

It should be always used when you designate a variety under any circumstances : advertisement, description, bills, …

 Plant Patent

It is the recognition of the Breeder’s rights on his new variety as an Intellectual Property Rights. The European Law n° 2109/94 fix the Breeder’s Right Protection of plant material protected by Plant Patent. There are two types of Plant Patent :

         National Plant Patent delivered by each country and enforced on its territory,

         European Plant Patent valid in all the EU countries

Propagation and commercialisation of protected varieties are forbidden without delivery of a licence by a breeder or his representative even for personal use. The European Plant Patent extend the protection to the fruits which commercialisation is legally authorise only if they come from trees produced under a licence with payment of a royalty. European Plant Patent can be controlled at any stage of the commercialisation process.

TRADE MARK

Designation whose owner has the exclusive used for all the products entering in a same « Class ». Varieties are often known and commercialised under a Trade Mark added to the denomination. In this case, the trade mark should not replace the denomination which should always be refereed.

The use of a Trade Mark should be submitted to a licence for Trade Mark utilisation.

OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION

Grants delivered by an Official Organism that the produced trees in a nursery and their commercialisation were controlled on a phytosanitary point of view as their compliance to original variety.

A tag is delivered by this organism and each certified tree is labelled certifying that the production meets all the requirements.
